The correct filling of gas cylinder is one of the keys to ensure the safe use of gas cylinder. Improper filling, such as gas mixing, overfilling are dangerous.
Gas mixing refers to the filling of two gases or liquefied gases in the same cylinder. The most common mixing phenomenon is that oxygen and other combustible-supporting gases are mixed with combustible gases, such as gas cylinders originally filled with gas (such as hydrogen and methane), which have not been replaced and cleaned, and there is residual gas in the bottle, which is also used to fill oxygen. If the two media react biochemically under suitable conditions, serious explosion accidents will occur. Therefore, gas mixing is never allowed.
Overloading is also a common cause of cylinder rupture and explosion. Filling excessive gas cylinders is affected by the ambient temperature, especially in summer, when the volume of liquefied gas in the cylinder expands rapidly due to temperature rise, the pressure in the cylinder increases sharply, resulting in the rupture and explosion of the cylinder.
In order to prevent overloading of gas cylinders, the following aspects should be done well. Filling work should be responsible for by special personnel, filling personnel should regularly accept safety education and assessment; Filling personnel should operate carefully, do not leave the post without authorization, at the same time, pay attention to empty the remaining liquid, verify the weight of the bottle. The weighing instrument used for filling liquefied gas should be checked at least once every 3 months. The maximum value of the weighing instrument used should be 1.5~3 times of the usual value. Check by the bottle and record carefully. Filling cylinders should be responsible for repeated weighing. Equipped with automatic metering equipment, excess can automatically alarm and cut off the valve.
